    • They removed to Winneconne, WI, in 1848. He enlisted Feb. 25, 1864, in Company F, 18th Wisc. Infantry; was taken prisoner at Allatoona, GA, where his company was stationed in a block house guarding a railroad bridge. He was imprisoned successively at Savannah, GA, Florence, SC, and at Libby Prison, Richmond VA, until the capture of that city by General Grant, when he was released and started for home, but died in the hospital in Madison, Indiana.
