Welcome to the Pilgrim Edward Doty Society
As Recited in the Flyleaf of The Doty-Doten Family in America (1897)
The fathers sleep, but men remain
As wise, as true, as brave as they;
Why count the loss and not the gain?
The best is that we have today.
John Greenleaf Whittier
From Our Country (July 4, 1883)
Welcome to the Pilgrim Edward Doty Society. Edward Doty was a passenger on the Mayflower and a signer of the Mayflower Compact. He was one of the original settlers of Plymouth Colony and an originator of the American Dream. Our Society is dedicated to telling the story of Edward and his wife, Faith (Clark) Doty, and the story of the Doty Family in America.
We are a family society, not a lineage society. You do not need to prove that you are a descendant of Edward Doty to join us. All those who have an interest in his life and times – and in joining us in fellowship – are welcome here.
This Website is mobile-friendly, so we encourage you to explore it on your tablet and smartphone, too.
Also, be sure to visit our Facebook Group, Pilgrim Edward Doty Society, and to join in the dialogue.
The background of our Website banner is a map by Thomas Jefferys, cartographer (London, 1755), entitled:
A map of the most inhabited part of New England; containing the provinces of Massachusets Bay and New Hampshire, with the colonies of Konektikut [Connecticut] and Rhode Island, divided into counties and townships: The whole composed from actual surveys and its situation adjusted by astronomical observations.
We built this site in conjunction with LoudEgg Creative Agency using a plug-in The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding, a genealogy database manager, and Public Access Control Panel, a TNG “Mod”. Our thanks to the automation professionals who made this site possible.
