    • The story goes that when Maggie went to school and told the teacher her name, the teacher said, "no child is named Maggie", and always called her MArguerite. Evidently she liked it, as both a daughter and granddaughter are named Marguerite. A sudden storm arose while Maggie and her son George were fishing on Rice Lake, and while they were trying to get ashore, George was killed by lightning, at age 16. (Wolfinger)
