  • Notes
    • Mr. Bartholomew's house stood a little west of the railroad station in Westbrook (Saybrook), CT, near a large rock on the elevation; another house later stood on the same site. He enlisted in April, 1775, and soon entered Capt. John Ely's company in Col. Samuel H. Parsons' Conn. regiment and marched to Boston. He reenlisted in Feb., 1776, under Capt. Martin Kirtland, and was employed on the defenses of New London harbor. The next year he enlisted at Providence, RI, for three years in Col. R. J. Meigs' Conn. regiment. He did not apply for a pension until 1820, when he styled himself a "fisherman", and stated his family consisted of his wife Anna, his daughter Martha, and himself, aged 60. (Bartholomew)
