  Walter Giles Dyer was in motion picture distribution. He started in the industry in 1929, and worked for various companies during his 51 years in the industry. He started at Paramount, in Portland, Maine, then worked for Universal, Republic, Warner Bros., and back to Universal for 21 years. He retired in 1980 from Universal Film Exchanges. Walter and Marion Giles lived in Boston for seven years (1939-1946), travelled for a time, and returned in 1946 to Cape Elizabeth, Maine, where Dyer "roots" have been since 1737, when William Dyer came up from Truro (Cape Cod).
