- He drowned in Plymouth Harbor. (Marshfield VR p. 17) (Unproven that he was born ca. 1642 and married 1st Anna Rouse Apr 1678. An inquest 25 Feb 1684 concluded Joseph Trewant and Israell Homes of Marshfield died 24 Feb 1684 during a storm when they were cast away and lost their lives (PCR 6:147-8). The inventory of Israel Holmes of Marshfield was taken 9 May 1685 (MD 4:173-4). On 19 Jun 1701 Israel Holmes and John Holmes, orphan children of Israel Holmes, late of Marshfield, chose their uncle John Rouse, husband of Desire's sister Elizabeth, as their guardian (GA 3:27). On 18 Mar 1706/7 the estate of Israel Holmes was settled with dower to widow; land to eldest son Israel Holmes, he paying John his share. (MD 33:5-9). b. Marshfield (VR p 15, 26-7) - (Holmes)

The settlement of the estate 7 Mar 1681/2 mentions that the widow Desire Sherman has married Israell Holmes. Israel Holmes was to have the estate provided he bring up the children and to pay them fifteen pounds when they came of age (MD 4:173).
