  • Notes
    • On 4 Oct 1675 the Court gave 20 pounds to Desire Sherman to maintain her family in reference to her husband William Sherman Jr. "who fell destracted in the service of the country" (PCR 5:178). When the court referred to the low condition of the eldest daughter (in the settlement of her mother's estate), they clearly referred to Desire as her husband was "distracted". (PlyCoPR 5:239) The inventory of William Sherman of Marshfield was taken 30 Dec 1680 (MD 4:171-2). The settlement of the estate 7 Mar 1681/2 mentions that the widow Desire Sherman has married Israel Holmes. Israel Holmes was to have the estate provided he bring up the children and to pay them fifteen pounds when they came of age (MD 4:173). b. Marshfield (VR p. 15, 26-7) - (Sherman)
