    • They lived at Grundy Centre, IA. Julia Almena Doty migrated with her parents as a girl to Medina Co., Ohio, probably by boat on the Erie Canal, Lake Erie and up on the Cuyahoga River. The family were staunch adherents of the Methodist Church, and a majority of their descendants have continued to be similarly affiliated. Her parents and several siblings joined Julia and Lucius in the move to Wisconsin in about 1847. Lucius was the youngest of nine children, and as a young man emigrated with his parents and some siblings to Genesee Co., NY, probably via the new Erie Canal. There he joined the Congregational Church in LeRoy at age 23. They moved on to Richlan Co., OH in the early 1830's where Lucius married, joined the Methodist Church and took up farming for his own family. About 1841 he moved his family to Medina Co., just south of Cleveland, and about six years later, with seven children, joined several of his siblings and in-laws in relocating to Winnebago Co., WI, presumably by ship on the Great Lakes. In 1861 the family moved to Iowa, spending a year in "the Center" in Grundy Co. There he lived the remainder of his lived. (Clark)
