  • Notes
    • One of Daniel's six boys supposedly served the British and five served the American army--nothing of the sources. Some put Daniel in Fairfield, SC in 1770-1775. He was paid by SC for damages, etc. Another suggests that he might be the Daniel Doty who had his land in NC sold because he was loyal to the wrong side, RW, 1778. Another source says, 'In the early 1750s, Daniel "Danel" and his family moved to Virginia. Between 1766 and 1769 they moved on and settled on the Yadkin River near Salisbury, NC and thereby became part of what was referred to as the New Jersey Settlement. Then to Spartenburg, SC, 1770-1775--then to Fairfield county, SC.' Still another source states: "Daniel lived on the land in the area of the Carolinas where the Battle of Cowpens was found on this date, and he and his son David took part in that battle and at the battle of David's Landing."
